From [livejournal.com profile] _samalander .  Comment for words from me.

Fan
Lord, yes, that's a pretty definite part of my personal makeup.  I've adored media - books, comics, movies, tv shows - and fictional characters since I was a wee one.  I felt (and still feel) closer to the people whose stories enchanted me than to most of my high school classmates.  I did a happy dance around the living room the other day when the latest in the YA "Bloody Jack" series by L. A. Meyer referenced Patrick O'Brian's "Aubrey and Maturin" series.  I love fictional worlds, so I spend a large percentage of my leisure time acting upon that love.  The list of my fandoms is extensive.

Literacy
Thank you!  I'm a librarian and I like youth services and literacy-building a lot.  Words have power and everyone should have access to them.  Words can change the world.

Sword
I'm an armored fighter in the Society for Creative Anachronism (historical re-creation society) and I am terribly fond of medieval weaponry.  I have a bastard sword named Scathach.  I like the balance and tug of her and she sits next to my bed at night in case of scary sounds, intruders, or zombie apocalypse.

Humor
I like funny stories.  Angst is not my thing.  I believe that humor can be at least as thoughtful and clever as tragedy and most of the characters I like have a measure of humor to their interactions with the world.  I like wit, snark, word-play, and joyful silliness over slapstick, crudity, and mockery.

Omen
Hm....  I quite like Good Omens by Pratchett and Gaiman.  Apart from that, I believe in free will over fate, pat black cats, and don't often count magpies.  Omens and portents are interesting in story, if only so that the writer can confound or upset expectations.

Originally "literacy" was going to be "books" but I changed it because you are both a reader and a writer, and it's more than books.

And Omen was meant to be for Good Omens because one of my earliest STD memories of you is talking about Good Omens fandom with Kitty. :)
