hsavinien: (Disc - Human)

So, finally got around to reading Young Avengers (issues #1-12), and bwahhh, so cute.  Yeah, mostly because Billy and Teddy are adorable and oh, boys and sweet and Billy is such a fanboy.  (I'm a witch, not a warlock.  It means 'oath-breaker.'  It is not a nice word.) But Cass and Kate rock too, and Eli's a good guy and...well, Tommy fought next to Wolverine and Logan said re: his fighting, "That's sick, I like it."  *snerk*  Vision seems pretty cool too.  Nice to see Captain America get a little comeuppance around Eli's grandfather.   I like their team dynamic as a whole.

I'm in the middle of grl2grl by Julie Anne Peters, a book of short stories about being teenage and lesbian.  It's pretty good so far, though occasionally vastly depressing.

Ah, and I just read the second Mouse Guard book.  After growing up with Brian Jacques, I'm pretty comfortable with the premise (mice fighting things off with swords and fortresses) and the art is pretty awesome.

Good lord, it is so nice to have time to read and chill.  I got Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead out from the library yesterday and got my parents to watch it with me.  They didn't appreciate it as much as I did, but oh well. ^_^  I like it, it's fun and pretty (though again, slightly depressing at times).

Finished my two-week practicum at the university library.  It went pretty well and I'm pleased with the projects I did.  Also proved to myself yet again that there's no easier place to find fun people than at a library.  Had geektime with several people. ^_^

Went out shopping with my dad today and got new pillows (via a sale and a coupon) and some earbuds since my headphones broke beyond repairing.  Mom spent the day baking so there are cookies and santa cakes that I helped decorate.  Also, home-made pizza for dinner.  Score.  I like being home and actually on break.  After the apartment, it is really weird and good to sleep in a room that is dark and quiet (no traffic-sounds/police sirens or streetlamps) and to know when I walk in to the smell of food cooking that I am going to get to eat it.  Seriously exciting.  (Which is kind of sad, really.)

ETA: OH YEAH.  SENATE PASSED THE DADT REPEAL, HOUSE ALREADY PASSED IT. FUCK YEAH!  Obama's signature and it is LAW.

Naah, not sad. Home is a good feeling <3 Tho we do need to find you some cheap/easy recipes your can do so you're not just eating stir fry, salad, and can soup all the time.

Heheh. ok. <3 Just the thrill of not having to cook it yourself?

*nods* Partly that. Partly the difference between it and walking down a hall smelling other people cooking sausage and stews and stuff and knowing I don't get any.

Mmmm... homemade foods. Something, sadly, I don't get often. Moving across the country does that right?

Yep. Cooking for yourself isn't bad, but it gets tiring.
