RULES: Comment and I'll LJ stalk you to find THREE FANDOMS you apparently love. And then you answer these questions about them!
01: What got you into this fandom in the first place?
02: Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
03: Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.?
04: Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
05: Do you think that more people should get into this fandom?

[livejournal.com profile] agenttrojie gave me Good Omens, Jeeves and Wooster, and Torchwood.

Good Omens
1.  I read the book in high school, having exhausted the available supply of Discworld books, and decided that it was wonderful.  I first ventured into fandom a few years later and got into [livejournal.com profile] lower_tadfield  and associated communities.
2.  Oh, I plan to stick around!  There's 2000 years of history to play with!
3.  Well...Crowley digging through the rubble of Aziraphale's shop is awesome...
4.  Yup!  It's one of the few fandoms for which I have written multiple fics and managed to participate in the holiday gift fic exchange for three years running.
5.  Oh, definitely.  I rec the book all the time and it tends to attract a reasonably intellectual/intelligent set, so I have found only a pretty small percentage of crapfic in the overall fan output.

Jeeves and Wooster
1.  I think I saw some of the Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry mini-series in 7th or 8th grade and immediately told my best friend all about the wonderful film I'd just seen and tried to explain the whole terribly complicated set of intertwing plots to her: she was not impressed.  Then my family got some audiobooks of P.G. Wodehouse's works for a car trip.  Then I started reading as many of the books as I could find in the library.  This year I finally overcame my fear enough to search out some fic for the two of them.
2.  I'm going to remain on the periphery, I think.  J. and W. can be written well, but it takes skill.
3.  I like the Laurie/Fry rendition of "Jeeves Takes Charge," the first episode and my first introduction, if only because of the beginning of Jeeves and Bertie's relationship.  And there is quintessential Bingo time as well...aka mooning over girl(s).
4.  Not a lot.  I keep an eye on a few fanfic authors, but have essayed none of my own.
5.  They are not for all comers.  There's a certain variety of British humor that doesn't work for everyone, especially written in the first person, as Bertie tends to narrate.  I like the characters and all their incarnations a great deal, though.

Torchwood
1.  While in Ireland I was following my flatmate around like a puppy, as she had friends already and I hadn't and we ended up in someone else's flat with the TV on and the episode "Captain Jack Harkness" playing.  I had no idea what was going on, having come in very late to the second part of a two-part story, but there was TIME TRAVEL and MEN KISSING and UNIFORMS!  Then, later that semester, I was informed by similarly slash-minded companion that I needed to watch the new Dr. Who show, like, yesterday and then Torchwood.  So I did.  *happysigh*  And then there was Captain "If it's sentient, it's a dating opportunity" Jack (responsible for much of the boykissing on the show), and Tosh (adorable, people-skills-limited techy), and Ianto (my favorite).  I view Ianto as rather a younger version of Jeeves - infinitely capable, knows everything, unobtrusively snarky - and thus more immediately fanciable.  As Jack says, he does look damn fine in a suit.
2.  I...try.  I haven't found much worthwhile fic, so I'll probably stick to trawling.  There is some great fanart available, though.  I'm not going to stop liking it.
3.  "Captain Jack Harness."  Gods...beautiful and heart-breaking...
4.  Haven't yet, but I may.
5.  Yes, in that I like sharing things I love with other people...  They aren't allowed to write fanfiction unless I beta, though....
Note: Torchwood has produced one of the few villains I actually hate for their actions against my favorite.  What Adam did to Ianto is unforgivable.

Can has three fandoms? I might not get around to actually posting until after I come home. Unless I get really bored. But I would still like to do so!

With you on the Adam thing. That entire episode was pretty damned sinister. Sometimes, when a show's about to air, there'll be a voiceover warning for flashing lights (for the epileptics) or masses of gore (for the seven year olds who should be in bed). Before Adam, I forget how it was worded, but they basically warned for massive mindfuck. Seemed about right.

At the least... That was seriously the most evil thing he could have done to Ianto. Death would be kinder than trying to break someone like that. *cuddles Ianto and pets*

ooh, this one seems fun, can I try it? Or maybe attempt to try it.

I agree with you about the villains, there are very few that you out right hate, or can't find a redeeming quality in them, especially ones that don't die 3 seconds after they show their true colors

Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Firefly
Star Wars

*shrug* I dislike them, sure (evil, treacherous, murderers, etc.), but I'm usually above "You hurt my precious [insert character name here], you must DIE." Not so with Adam...
