I like a lot of fandoms, but very few of those are even semi-recent tv shows. Merlin (only seen s1), Sherlock (s1-s2e1), due South, Slings and Arrows, Star Trek:TNG/DS9 (done below), Torchwood, Doctor Who (I'm one Doctor behind), Jeeves and Wooster (done below), Teen Titans (s1-2), Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (s1-6), Samurai Champloo, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Tin Man, and Blackadder are the only ones I know well enough to comment on.

Film versions? Okay, hm.

[identity profile] hsavinien.livejournal.com 2012-01-11 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Favorite Person - Piotr Rasputin (Colossus). He's one of the only ones of my favorite X-Men that was done properly and that's only because he was fairly background...
Least Favorite Person - Frank Castle (Punisher). It's like a 90s Image title character got set loose onscreen. Ew.
Prettiest Person - Steve Rogers (Captain America). Because also dorky and awwwww.
Most Beautiful Person - Possibly Thor but he's such a dingbat that I have trouble wanting anything but to smack him.
Person I Want to Marry - Ummm...I don't know. Nick Fury? (http://www.memosfromfury.tumblr.com) None of my favorites from the comics have shown up in any form I'm particularly drawn to.
Person with Whom I Want to Be Best Friends - Pepper Potts. Smart, professional, attractive, and good at not putting up with Tony's shit.
Favorite Pairing - Oddly enough, I haven't got any pairings I'm really set on for the combined movieverse. Alex Summers (Havok)/Sean Cassidy (Banshee) or Bobby Drake (Iceman)/St. John Allerdyce (Pyro) maybe.
Unpopular Opinion - What the hell was Mystique doing in XMFC? No. Noooo. She's not Charles's "little sister". She's much older and much cooler and soooo much more self-confident than that. FFS, according to at least one version of Marvel history, she was Sherlock Holmes (and having it off with Irene Adler)!

I seem to recall you being a fan, so, Jeeves and Wooster!
ext_85481: (Default)

[identity profile] hsavinien.livejournal.com 2012-01-11 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Favorite Person - Reginald Jeeves is made of awesome and snark and win.
Least Favorite Person - Madeline Bassett. She's just unbearably soppy and cutesy.
Prettiest Person - Bingo is kind of adorable in a retarded three-legged puppy sort of way. (Descriptor courtesy of yuri_shoujo.)
Most Beautiful Person - Bertie Wooster and his "code". Not necessarily physically, though he is quite cute.
Person I Want to Marry - Jeeves, except he's Bertie's, so no.
Person with Whom I Want to Be Best Friends - Aunt Dahlia Travers. She's hilarious and really quite modern, running her own newspaper as well as the lives of everyone around her.
Favorite Pairing - Jeeves/Wooster, of course. ^_^ They're a wonderful contrasting pair and they're quite devoted to each other's health and happiness.
Unpopular Opinion - I'm not sure what fandom's popular opinions are, precisely, as I read very few authors. (The diction is not easy to get right and grating when wrong). Ummm... Maybe that the J/W relationship, while OTP, romantic, slash-filled, and eternal in the grow old together and never be parted sense, need not be sexual. It's cool if it is, but it doesn't have to be.

Ooh, fun! Am I allowed to make second requests? Because if so, Harry Potter.
ext_85481: (Default)

Sure.

[identity profile] hsavinien.livejournal.com 2012-01-11 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Favorite Person - Remus Lupin, who endured a truly shit life with grace, kindness, and humor.
Least Favorite Person - Actually, Dolores Umbridge beats out Voldemort. He was just evil and fairly easy to dismiss as a typical villain, albeit one with Backstory. She was malicious, she dismissed and outright abused children and young adults under her authority, and fostered deliberate misinformation in a time of conflict that cost lives.
Prettiest Person - Luna Lovegood is very pretty.
Most Beautiful Person - Ummm, Rolanda Hooch. Rawr.
Person I Want to Marry - Nymphadora Tonks, because she is AWESOME (until she becomes obsessed with Remus and LALALALA DIDN'T HAPPEN) and queer and actiony and steps up to the plate so so so much. She's awkward and silly and enjoys life and she does what needs doing.
Person with Whom I Want to Be Best Friends - Minerva McGonagall is professional, and clever, and snarky. She's an awesome teacher and a warrior and protector in her own right.
Favorite Pairing - Remus/Sirius is actually my earliest OTP in fandom. I have essays about their relationship, but it largely boils down to they love each other, their lives sucked and they deserve some happiness, and they're good at curbing each other's negative traits.
Unpopular Opinion - Rowling-fandom is so varied, it's hard to pick things out... I am actually perfectly okay with Hermione/Ron and Ginny/Harry, but Harry had damn well better name a kid after Remus.

[identity profile] captlebubbles.livejournal.com 2012-01-11 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree with you about Umbridge! Voldemort was an evil bitch, but it was expected of him, and he was actually interesting as a character. Umbridge was just a horrible, horrible woman, for all the things you already said. Also, as a teacher, and one with a direct line to the person who decides Hogwarts' fate, she's a lot harder to defeat outright. She was also pretty unhinged; Voldemort, at least, had a level of gruesome predictability about him, whereas Umbridge would do anything if she felt her authority was being challenged. (I do, however, think her backstory would be interesting to explore if I could stop shaking long enough to read it. Book the Fifth took me the longest to get through because I kept getting so mad at her that I was shaking and had to put the book down until I stopped.)

I also agree about McGonagall. She is brilliant and amazing and awesome! Also terrifying, but in the 'she will do anything to protect her students, including fighting against a fully-powered Voldermort, seriously, do not fuck with her' way.

Oooh, oooh, you were a fan of Percy Jackson, weren't you? Please to be doing that one now, kaythanx.

Hm.

[identity profile] hsavinien.livejournal.com 2012-01-11 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not quite up-to-date on Percy's latest and I liked them, but only read them once, but I'll try. Less justifications because I don't remember them as well.

Favorite Person - Grover Underwood, he's a sweetie, dedicated, and awesome.
Least Favorite Person - Ares is a jerkass. Ares is always a jerkass.
Prettiest Person - Iris, with bonus funny powers.
Most Beautiful Person - Piper McLean, daughter of Aphrodite. She's kinda scary too, but that goes with the lineage.
Person I Want to Marry - Nnnnobody, they're mostly kids.
Person with Whom I Want to Be Best Friends - Tyson, he's a love. *pats*
Favorite Pairing - Annabeth/Percy, but I'd appreciate it if it went slow and not easily, because to do otherwise would be out of character.
Unpopular Opinion - Uhhh. Again, no idea what the popular opinions are because I'm not in the fandom. Thalia Grace kind of annoys me.

Ehehe, I just remembered that you had enjoyed it, I've not thought about it in ages either. I'm trying to remember what other fandoms we have in common. Star Trek, obviously. Do that one while I think?

Favorite Person - STXI Leonard "Bones" McCoy. The snark. Ohhh, the snark. Also, the competence and brains and pretty.
Least Favorite Person - DS9 Gul Dukat. I dislike most Cardassian characters, because I find their "political/ethical jerkassery" hat extremely unpleasant, but Dukat just takes it to a whole new level even when he's theoretically trying to be a good guy.
Prettiest Person - STXI Gaila is very pretty and will hopefully be returning to demonstrate her awesomeness more thoroughly.
Most Beautiful Person - DS9 Jadzia Dax. She's lovely and awesome and smart and badass and snarky.
Person I Want to Marry - The version of nuTrek Christine Chapel that I hope to see in the next movie because she's professional, smart, in charge of the sickbay (whatever Bones thinks), no-nonsense (on-duty), fun (off-duty) and caring. Alternatively, Jadzia.
Person with Whom I Want to Be Best Friends - Hikaru Sulu. Any (non-Mirror Universe) Hikaru Sulu. He would be a cool friend. ^_^
Favorite Pairing - STXI James Kirk/Leonard McCoy. Yum. Macho smartass (with complicated backstory) hero-type best friends in love with each other.
Unpopular Opinion - Pet names that emphasize and capitalize on STXI Pavel Chekov's relative youth? VERY CREEPY.

Re: Hm.

[identity profile] captlebubbles.livejournal.com 2012-01-11 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Any (non-Mirror Universe) Hikaru Sulu. He would be a cool friend. ^_^

Even Kiki? ;)

I think the emphasis on Chekov's youth was part of what drove me away from that corner of the fandom, honestly. I LOVED the original Chekov, with his childishness, girl-loving, but still quite intelligent ways. Reboot Pavel was pretty fun for awhile, but he just wasn't Pavel, in the same way that the rest of the characters, while they were fun to begin with, became second-rate copies (my own unpopular opinion) after properly examined. While having them be exact duplicates wouldn't have been cool either, the STXI characters felt like they sort of.. Idk, lost?... the spirit of the original characters they were based on.

*shrugs* I like the new characterizations too.

[identity profile] hsavinien.livejournal.com 2012-01-11 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure that's a good idea. None of the previous canons were written by us/people we know. I don't think I could be nearly as objective.

[identity profile] captlebubbles.livejournal.com 2012-01-11 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, that's cool. It's just the last shared fandom I could think of off the top of my head.

*nods* I know you like Top Gear and Pokemon and Quantum Leap, but I don't know much about them at all.

[identity profile] captlebubbles.livejournal.com 2012-01-11 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
And I know you like multiple comic books, but I don't know anything about them.

Erm.

You a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic?

You should! It's quite fun; I think you would enjoy it and bonus! Q is the villain for the season two opener episodes.

[identity profile] hsavinien.livejournal.com 2012-01-11 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Yah, just haven't had a chance yet. *snerk*

[identity profile] captlebubbles.livejournal.com 2012-01-11 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, technically it's John De Lancie doing the voice, but the character is so similar to Q that the fandom often calls him DisQord. Which is awesome.
