Star Trekkin'!
I went to the new Star Trek film yesterday and it was good! Everyone should go see it, whether a previous fan or not.
Storyline was reasonable. For Star Trek. ^_^ It was even a semi-logical ret-con. The opening was amazing and made me and my friend both sniffle and go teary over the sheer heroism.
Kirk was all right; still not going on my list of favorites any time soon, but not terribly annoying. Mini-Spock was adorable, though I could see years of psychiatric treatment coming out of his childhood if Vulcans went into that sort of thing. (Mini-Kirk was a twerp.) Seeing Spock shoot down the high muckamucks at the Science Academy was very satisfying. Hm...McCoy was generally yay and his grand scheme for getting Kirk aboard the Enterprise was hilarious. I had forgotten that Sulu fenced... Chekhov! So cute! All curls and accent and cleverness! Definitely my favorite. Oooh, Scotty, I hadn't known thatNicholas Angel, sorry, Simon Pegg was playing him. It was awesome. ^_^
Story was pretty strong and had some really cool bits. It was awesome to see Mr. Nimoy.
