"Incompetent?" - (hsavinien ). This is an icon I created recently, having started working my way back into fandom for the manga series Saiyuki/Saiyuki Reload. It is a (veryverypretty) remake of an old Chinese legend, wherein a group of unlikely travelers, led by a priest, go off to save the world. The remake, despite blood, drama, and pain, is pretty amusing. The four main characters are somewhat unlikely heroes. They probably wouldn't describe themselves as such. I was reading fanfiction for them, however, and was struck by the way they sort of embody the traits that I ascribe to them in the icon. Of course, that's not all they're about, but it amuses me the way they are cast in fanfiction. (And of course they aren't actually incompetent. But as I said, this is for my own amusement and they do seem like it at times.) Sanzo - a priest who likes his gun, Hakkai - a gentle man who's witnessed and caused much death, Gojyo - a half-youkai who likes the ladies (and possibly the men), and Goku - the always-hungry and always-excitable current incarnation of the monkey king.

tearofabasilisk). tearofabasilisk made this at my request, when s/he was working on a batch of Terry Pratchett quote icons. It's an observation Pratchett makes in Wyrd Sisters, and it's so very true. If only because your dear friends will rag the life out of you...
"error" - (quean_of_swords). Another Terry Pratchett quote, one of the lines from the thinking machine, Hex. This is for when the world is wrong or making no sense.
"fear" - (hsavinien) Please do not borrow/use. Oh, this is one of my personal icons that I made years ago. It's mostly for when I'm feeling silly. I'm fond of penguins and leetspeech, which I do not use, amuses me in small doses. Especially when combined with penguins.
"MR" - (mhari). This was created by mhari, of course, and it's a fan icon for the Terry Pratchett book Monstrous Regiment, one of my favorites. I use it when someone or something needs to be hit, because, despite my general internet gender-neutrality, it works so well for me. The quote is from Sgt. "Bloody Jack" Jackrum, whose catchphrase is, "Upon my oath, I am not a _______ man." The sergeant is, of course, telling the truth. Technically speaking.
