Mulan fic fail: applying modern(ish), Western sexual and social mores to people in ancient China. Research, lovelies... I realize Disney didn't do much, but we should strive to overcome the shortcomings of canon.
*snerk* I'm luckily living with a Norse geek, so I get to run things past her like, "I know vikingr didn't actually do a lot of raping in their pillage/plunder mode, what were Norse attitudes toward that in general?".
